Yorkiepoo Princess the one to beat in the Busher

Kentucky Oaks-minded fillies will be in the spotlight at Aqueduct this Saturday, as the $150k Busher Stakes is the feature. The 1 1/16th-mile event, worth 50 points toward the Kentucky Oaks to the winner down to five points for fourth, drew a field of 10. Post time for the Busher, the eighth race of the day, is estimated at 4:50 p.m. EST. Be sure to study Aqueduct’s card carefully if you’re playing along in FanXT’s Daily Fantasy Jockey game!

#3 YORKIEPOO PRINCESS (3-1, morning-line favorite) stands out by comparison, being the lone runner to have won a stake. In fact, she has two stakes victories to her credit; the Ruthless last time out over three of these, and last November’s Furlough. Ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., she’ll be trying for her first stakes score around two turns in the Busher. YORKIEPOO PRINCESS has a route win to her credit already, but that came against just three others in a maiden claimer. She wouldn’t be a great bet at 3-1 or less, but she’s the most likely winner of this race.

#8 SPANISH HARLEM (6-1) is one of several stepping up off a maiden victory. Hers appears to be the most impressive, as she earned a solid speed figure despite having to rally four-wide. She also won that heat over this course, not at Parx like a pair of her rivals jumping up in class (#2 TIZ RUDE and #7 THIRSTFORTHECUP). SPANISH HARLEM gets a rider upgrade to Kendrick Carmouche for this, which helps her cause.

#5 FULL HOUSE (7-2) lures Rajiv Maragh away from SPANISH HARLEM for her first try against winners. She earned a very good speed figure in her latest start, which was coincidentally her first route attempt. However, she had an uncontested lead against a vastly overmatched field last time out; this is an entirely different scenario. She’s likely to get overbet as her trainer, Jimmy Jerkens, is very high-profile compared to YORKIEPOO PRINCESS’ trainer Ed Barker.

#4 HEAVENLY SCORE (6-1) managed to beat FULL HOUSE in her maiden win, though it came going six furlongs. The modestly-bred John Terranova trainee is only moderately intriguing in her first start around two turns. Angel Arroyo rides.

The play: $4 exacta 3/5,8, $2 exacta 3/4 ($10)

DFJ analysis: Kendrick Carmouche has good mounts for solid local connections on Saturday. He’ll ride Thirtydaysinjune (7-2) for Bill Mott in Race 6, Pursuer (4-1) for Chris Englehart in Race 7, and SPANISH HARLEM for Danny Gargan in Race 8, the Busher Stakes. He’s making headway on meet leader Irad Ortiz Jr. in the jockey standings, so be sure to include him in your stable this Saturday.
