The Grade II, $250,000 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes takes place this Friday at Pimlico Racecourse. A race steeped in tradition, the 1 1/8-mile Black-Eyed Susan attracted 10 three-year-old fillies. Post time for the event, Race 11 of 14 on the day, is 4:48 p.m. EST. Be sure to play FanXT’s Daily Fantasy Jockey game all weekend long!
#7 GOODONEHONEY (5-1) has raced just twice to date but won both times. That included a romp in the Weber City Miss Stakes at Laurel last time out. GOODONEHONEY handled that distance increase with aplomb, so there’s no reason to think she won’t get an extra 1/16th today. She’s even shown some versatility despite having only two starts under her belt, winning from off the pace in her debut before going coast-to-coast in the Weber City Miss. Expect her to be up close early and take over turning for home under circuit veteran Steve Hamilton.
#2 MIDNIGHT DISGUISE (4-1) ships in from New York boasting a 4-for-6 record but was off the board in the Grade II Gazelle last time out. Handicappers may have to forgive that latest effort as she drilled a bullet for Linda Rice in her most recent work and lures Irad Ortiz Jr. MIDNIGHT DISGUISE adds blinkers, so perhaps she won’t be as far back as she usually is in the Black-Eyed Susan.
#9 SARA STREET (4-1) has traded decisions with MIDNIGHT DISGUISE at Aqueduct, finishing behind her in the Busher before topping that rival in the Gazelle. SARA STREET, however, has just a maiden win to her credit through four starts but is fast enough to compete with these on speed figures. Dylan Davis maintains the assignment on this potential frontrunner.
The play: $10 win 7
DFJ analysis: With many of Belmont’s top riders at Pimlico, Joel Rosario is poised to take advantage by staying home. Rosario has three mounts at 5-2 or less in the first three races and, assuming the featured seventh comes off the turf, he’ll be on an 8-5 favorite.
