Picking Telekinesis is the right move in the Queen’s Plate

The $1 million Queen’s Plate, the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, takes place this Saturday at Woodbine. The 1 1/4-mile synthetic dirt event drew a field of 16 Ontario-bred three-year-olds. Several noteworthy jockeys have shipped in, so study this race carefully if playing FanXT’s Daily Fantasy Jockey game!

#10 TELEKINESIS is the logical 5-2 favorite off his gate-to-wire Plate Trail score over this strip on June 9. The Mark Casse trainee was second against graded company in the Lexington just two starts ago. He’s tops in the Queen’s Plate field on speed figures and maintains Patrick Husbands. TELEKINESIS has the versatility to lay close or go to the lead if need be, so he’s the pick.

#7 DIXIE MOON (4-1) held off WONDER GADOT late when the two met in the Woodbine Oaks last time out. The daughter of Curlin has showed remarkable improvement in the speed figure department at three and loves this course (4-3-1-0). Eurico Rosa da Silva has the assignment.

#11 WONDER GADOT (3-1) has settled into a pattern of collecting minor awards (0-for-6 in 2018), but consecutive runner-up efforts in the Kentucky Oaks and Woodbine Oaks are nothing to sneeze at. Husbands jumps off in favor of TELEKINESIS, but regular pilot John Velazquez sees fit to ship in for the call. WONDER GADOT also gets blinkers on, which should keep her focused and sharpen her late kick. It wouldn’t take much for her to turn the tables on DIXIE MOON, but she may be an underlay.

#16 ROSE’S VISION (12-1) drew poorly but was a game second to TELEKINESIS in the Plate Trial last time out. He gets a huge rider upgrade to Javier Castellano in the Queen’s Plate. As long as he can save some ground, ROSE’S VISION has a shot at a minor award.

The play: $1 trifecta 10/7,11,16/7,11,16, $1 trifecta 10/7,11/7,11,16 ($10)

DFJ analysis: Florent Geroux rides 15-1 longshot NEEPAWA in the Queen’s Plate but has seven other mounts earlier in the program that should get him on the board in FanXT’s Daily Fantasy Jockey game. Five of those mounts are 7-2 or less, including Long On Value in the Grade I Highlander.
