Some titans of the turf go at it in the Grade I, $300,000 United Nations Stakes at Monmouth this Saturday. A field of nine, including a Chad Brown-trained quartet, will take three turns and travel 1 3/8-miles on the grass. Post time for the United Nations, Race 11 of 13 on the program, is 6:01 p.m. EST. As always, feel free to take part in FanXT’s Daily Fantasy Jockey game!
#9 VETTORI KIN (10-1) steps up off an impressive score in the 1 1/2-mile Louisville Handicap at Churchill last month. He’s earned competitive speed figures while closing off the pace under Julien Leparoux in his last two starts. Leparoux is elsewhere on Saturday, but locally-based Paco Lopez (firing at 29% at the Monmouth meet) has the call. VETTORI KIN should be able to take advantage of his post and drop back right away while his competition fights for racing room just off the pace.
#5 MONEY MULTIPLIER (5-2, morning-line favorite) is the logical alternative off his Monmouth Stakes defense last time out. The Chad Brown trainee seems to have found a home on the Jersey shore, as he’s never been out of the exacta in three tries at Monmouth. He’s a fit on speed figures and has the services of circuit veteran Joe Bravo, who won the United Nations in 2017.
#2 ONE GO ALL GO (8-1) will probably try to take them all the way in this one. Chris Landeros had him reserved early before fading late in the Manhattan when last seen, but when on the lead, ONE GO ALL GO has demonstrated toughness on a regular basis. He’s already hit the board in five stakes races this year, including the 1 1/2-mile Elkhorn. Landeros remains aboard.
The play: $3 exacta box 5/9, $4 win 9 ($10)
DFJ analysis: Paco Lopez has nine mounts at Monmouth on Saturday, most of which are high-quality. A stakes trifecta is in the realm of possibility, as he rides Feeling Bossy (4-1) in the Eatontown, Total Control (4-1) in the Lady’s Secret, and live longshot VETTORI KIN in the United Nations.
