Older female turfers will be in the spotlight at Keeneland on Saturday in the Grade I, $350,000 Jenny Wiley Stakes. The 1 1/16th-mile event goes as Race 10 on an 11-race program that also includes the Grade III Lexington Stakes for Kentucky Derby aspirants. Post time for the eight-horse Jenny Wiley is 6:12 p.m. Eastern.
#2 RUSHING FALL (6-5, morning-line favorite) has an unblemished three-start record at Keeneland and should improve on that mark in the Jenny Wiley. She’s incredibly versatile, capable of winning from on the lead or well back, and has leading rider Javier Castellano in the irons. An opponent will likely have to run a career best to top RUSHING FALL here.
#6 BELLAVAIS (8-1) came too late with her bid in the Honey Fox when last seen, checking in third behind Precieuse and next-out winner Valedictorian. But prior to that effort she took the 1 1/16th-mile Marshua’s River by a widening 3 1/2-lengths. BELLAVAIS has an additional turf victory under her belt since moving to the Todd Pletcher barn. Julien Leparoux, who has a knack for working out good trips on this turf course, has the call.
#4 RYMSKA (5-2) is one of two additional Chad Brown charges aside from RUSHING FALL (the other is #8 ONTHEMOONAGAIN) in the Jenny Wiley. She received a perfect trip in a slowly-rated renewal of the Hillsborough when last seen, but at least she was able to bounce back after an odds-on defeat in the Suwannee River two starts ago. Irad Ortiz Jr. remains aboard RYMSKA, who won four of six starts (all stakes) between 2017 and 2018.
The play: $5 trifecta 2/4,6/4,6 ($10)
