Dr Post has most upside in Unbridled

The $75,000 Unbridled Stakes is the Saturday feature at Gulfstream Park. The 1 1/16th-mile heat for three-year-olds drew a field of seven with visions of wearing the blanket of roses in the Kentucky Derby later this year. Post time for the Unbridled, Race 9 of 12 on the card, is estimated for 4:53 p.m. ET.

#3 DR POST (8-5, morning-line favorite) has raced just twice but was visually impressive in his most recent outing against maidens. Exiting a long layoff and the victim of a wide draw, DR POST made light work of a big field over this course, putting up a very strong speed figure. If the Todd Pletcher trainee replicates that effort on Saturday, he’ll be extremely difficult to handle. Being by Quality Road, DR POST shouldn’t mind stretching out either. Irad Ortiz Jr., back racing after a self-imposed hiatus, is the listed rider.

#7 ATTACHMENT RATE (3-1) is the most likely upset candidate in the Unbridled. He is dropping out a respectable third-place effort in the Grade III Gotham over at Aqueduct last month. Being by Hard Spun out of an Afleet Alex mare, ATTACHMENT RATE should be able to negotiate a slight increase in distance on Saturday. Luis Saez will be in the irons.

#4 RELENTLESS DANCER (6-1) moves up in the event of a scratch. He’s the most likely pacesetter in a race lacking early speed types, but his fades in both the Holy Bull and Tampa Bay Derby are somewhat concerning. Chris Landeros will try to get the most out of RELENTLESS DANCER in this heat.

The play: $8 exacta 3/7, $2 exacta 7/3 ($10)
