Reagan’s Edge, Secret Keeper intrigue in Raven Run

The Grade II, $200,000 Raven Run Stakes is the Saturday feature at Lexington, Kentucky’s Keeneland racecourse. A field of 10 three-year-old fillies, many with Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint aspirations, will go seven furlongs on the main track in this one. Post time for the Raven Run, the featured ninth on a 10-race Saturday program, is 5:30 Eastern.

#6 REAGAN’S EDGE (8-1) gets the tepid nod in what looks like a wide-open renewal of the Raven Run. She’s recorded back-to-back runner-up finishes behind the well-regarded Frank’s Rockette in her two prior graded stakes tries to date. REAGAN’S EDGE was 2-for-3 lifetime prior to those two efforts. Her speed figures are strong enough to compete with these, and Florent Geroux gets aboard.

#10 SECRET KEEPER (12-1) won with ease in each of her first two starts before settling for second in the Grade III Torrey Pines at Del Mar behind a next-out winner in Harvest Moon. She scales back a furlong in the Raven Run, which should prove to be helpful. SECRET KEEPER figures to take a step forward in this spot, and Brian Hernandez Jr. climbs aboard.

#5 VENETIAN HARBOR (7-5, morning-line favorite) has settled for second in three straight races since romping in the Grade II Las Virgenes Stakes back in February. However, she’s run into some solid opponents in Swiss Skydiver, Speech and Gamine in that span. VENETIAN HARBOR could simply prove too much for these, but may not be worth the price. Manny Franco has the call.

#2 FOUR GRACES (5-2) is a dual Grade III winner in 2020, including the Beaumont Stakes over this course two-back. Toss her last when she was dueled into submission in the Grade II Eight Belles. Julien Leparoux maintains the assignment.

The play: $10 win 6,10 ($20)
